About Me
A decade of digital work.
One constant thread.
I’ve spent my career at the intersection of accessibility, quality, and communication. Every role (teacher, QA analyst, digital consultant, entrepreneur) strengthened a belief that good digital work makes people’s lives easier. That’s what I build.
From classroom to
government digital.
I’m Sumi Subramanian, a Digital Design Specialist, entrepreneur, certified QA analyst, and accessibility practitioner. In 2016 I launched Sumi’s Own Skincare Products, a women-owned small business I continue to run today. That experience gave me a perspective no job could: I know what it means to build something from zero, serve real customers, and make every decision count.
At TVA, I came in as a contractor. Four years later, I had become the team’s go-to resource for ~90% of monthly digital requests, leading the effort to elevate our accessibility program to one of the top-performing government websites, while delivering high-stakes Board meeting materials with zero room for error.
I’m now ready to bring that same dedication and the versatility I’ve earned across five different career contexts to my next organization.
Three chapters.
One direction.
I started my career in education, leading classrooms, teaching children, and learning that communication is about meeting people where they are. Simultaneously, I founded a business, ran QA for a software startup, and completed my CTFL certification. Every role added a layer: patience, attention to detail, a bias toward quality, and entrepreneurial instinct.
Tennessee Valley Authority gave me the canvas to do meaningful work at scale. Government web accessibility. Enterprise content strategy. Cross-team coordination at executive level. I drove accessibility to exceed federal benchmarks, became a Siteimprove Super User (Top 5% globally), and supported high-stakes Board of Directors communications for four consecutive years without a single error.
I’m looking for an organization where digital communications, accessibility, and quality are taken seriously, and where my combination of skills can create compounding value. I want to lead, not just contribute. To build systems, not just complete tasks. To be the person a team points to when they need something done right.
Five principles I work by.
These aren’t mission statements. They’re how I actually approach work, every day.
Every person who visits a website deserves to use it fully. Accessibility isn’t a legal requirement I grudgingly satisfy. It’s the minimum standard of decency for any digital work that reaches the public.
The best QA isn’t catching bugs at the end. It’s building processes, standards, and habits that prevent them from appearing in the first place. I bring QA thinking to every phase of work.
I use AI tools daily, but I evaluate every output before it publishes. AI accelerates my workflow. My judgment determines quality. That distinction matters.
The best digital content doesn’t make people work to understand it. I write plainly, structure information logically, and always ask: what does this person actually need to know right now?
I don’t publish content because a calendar says it’s time. I publish it because someone needs it. Purpose-driven digital work produces better results and builds more trust with audiences.
A track record built on volume, consistency, and reliability.
The numbers below reflect what sustained, high-volume work looks like over time. Contribution is not just about volume. It is about being the person the team can count on.

Major website redesigns and content migrations. Accessibility improvement initiatives across TVA.com. Digital communications campaigns and content strategy support. Cross-business unit collaboration on content quality and UX.
Created step-by-step guides for TVA.com newsroom publishing. Built documentation for WebDAM digital asset management. Provided user support to help teams manage their own content more effectively.
A decade of growth.
Every step intentional.
